History
Founded in 1919, Lovick's was established by William Lovick upon his return from serving with the British Army in the Great War.
In 1920, Lovick's briefly relocated from its original site but soon returned and expanded to its current expansive premises spanning 10,000 square feet. This strategic move allowed Lovick's to accommodate its growing business and better serve its valued customers.
Alan Lovick
Alan Lovick, the son of William Lovick, played a significant role in the business's legacy. Joining the company in 1930, Alan assumed control following his father's passing, which resulted from the lasting impact of gas poisoning he endured during the war, two decades prior.
Throughout his tenure, Alan successfully navigated the challenges of the Great Recession and steered the business through the turbulent times of the Second World War.
In addition to his commitments to the business, Alan dedicated himself to public service, serving as a Magistrate and Chairman of the Bench. Alan's remarkable contributions to the business and his community left an indelible mark. Sadly, Alan passed away in 1996, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire.
William Lovick (Bill)
In 1956, Bill Lovick commenced his journey with the business, starting as a van boy and progressing to become a skilled Kosset trained carpet fitter. His dedication and expertise propelled him to the role of managing director in 1970, where he guided the business, shaping it into the thriving enterprise we witness today.
Although Bill now relishes his well-deserved retirement, his enduring connection to the business is evident as he occasionally graces us with his presence, sharing his invaluable insights from time to time.
David Lovick
David joined the Lovicks team in 1985 and has made significant contributions to the company's success over the years. Starting as a Saturday assistant at the age of 15, he quickly gained proficiency in various aspects of the business, from furniture delivery to carpet fitting.
With his extensive experience and dedication, David now holds the position of Managing Director, where he continues to lead the business with unwavering determination and strategic vision. Under his guidance, Lovicks has consistently achieved growth and success, solidifying its reputation in the industry.
Helen Lovick
Helen brought her distinctive flair to the company when she joined in 1985 at the age of 18. Having served as a director for over 25 years, Helen played a vital role in the family-run furniture store. Despite facing the challenges of Multiple Sclerosis, Helen remained resolute in her work and maintained a positive outlook.
Sadly, Helen passed away at the age of 55 on April 17th 2022 due to a stroke. Her memory will forever be cherished by both customers and staff alike. Helens legacy now continues through her son George, who is now a director at the company.
